My Approach

I have worked successfully with hundreds of couples since becoming certified in Gottman Method Couples Therapy in 2011. I have a great deal of trust and confidence in this approach and have seen couples use its research-based, powerful tools to improve their relationships. I love that the approach is practical and feels accessible to people who have either a little or a lot of experience with therapy.

My Professional Background

I came to counselling as a second career, having practiced for several years as a family law attorney, then later as a child custody evaluator in divorce cases. My professional experience led me to believe that many troubled relationships could have been saved with better communication skills and understanding of relationship dynamics. I also learned firsthand what it’s like to go through a big career transition. I am passionate about helping clients work through career issues, workplace stress and I provide leadership training and executive coaching.

My Experience

I am a designated Master Trainer with the Gottman Institute and teach Gottman Method Couples Therapy to therapists in the U.S and Europe. I co-present The Art and Science of Love Gottman Couples Workshop in the Bay Area and Chicago. I am a Consultant to Gottman therapists working towards certification. I am also a presenter on the Gottman Institute’s Speaker’s Bureau.

I frequently present trainings, seminars, and workshops. Over the years these have included communication and leadership development to tech companies, self-care for educators and Grand Rounds at Stanford University’s Department of Psychiatry. I have been interviewed by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Woman’s Day and The Huffington Post on relationship topics. I have been a featured presenter on the BBC regarding the impact on COVID on couple relationships.

Personally

I have been married for over 20 years and have two young adult sons. I feel passionate about helping partners, parents, and kids navigate well the changes and challenges that life throws at us so we can develop stronger bonds and deeper understandings of each other.
